Santa Barbara Winery

In 1962, at the age of thirty-two, Pierre Lafond made history by founding the first post-Prohibition commercial winery in Santa Barbara County. Only two years later, he established a winery facility on Anacapa Street, mere steps from the Pacific Ocean. Since then, Santa Barbara Winery has earned widespread recognition, winning multiple medals for its diverse selection of wines. Fueled by growing demand, Lafond is currently expanding operations to better serve wine enthusiasts. His roots trace back to retail, where his wine and cheese shop in Santa Barbara became a favorite gathering place for local aficionados. Guided by an appreciation for fine (primarily French) wines and a keen sense of opportunity, Lafond entered wine production—laying the foundation for Santa Barbara’s thriving wine community.
